The Value of Original Ideas

I had some good press on my blog this week. I was selected #1 business blog by HR world that all managers should bookmark. (I would just suggest subscribing because it is easier than checking a bookmark - see the box on the side to do that).

And Wally Bock named my post on What Gets Measured gets Done as one of the top 5 best business posts of the week.

This is great because sometimes I think that I do not have any original ideas because I read so much and learn a lot from other people.

Despite this I think there is value in providing simplification and the synthesis of ideas. It also offers value to take ideas from one area and apply them to another.

Quote for the day:

"You are the same today as you will be in five years except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet"

by Charlie Tremendous Jones (I guess a name like that says a lot)

Dear Jim,

Your posts are always a great source of enlightenment and intelligence. I've read many books because of your reviews and I think you are a great role model.
Your Time Leadership book and CD should be mandatory reading for anyone looking to improve themselves!
I recently read the One Minute Entrepreneur by Ken Blanchard and he seems to think very highly of Charlie “Tremendous” Jones... and I believe his quote about books and people is true!
Keep up the fantastic work Jim… you have great ideas!

It's great that your message is being spread by others to a wide audience. Allow me to add to your list of recent press. In the June 2008 issue of Business Solutions magazine, I wrote a "From The Editor" piece on time management, referencing your blog and your tips for practicing the art of time management. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on your success! I found your blog through the list on HR Blog, so it's earned you at least one new reader!

I can also identify with your comment about the value of providing simplification (or clarification) and the synthesis of ideas.

I think this is important work, and it definitely makes a difference!

Great job!

Erek
